Janach has developed a comprehensive suite of dedicated instruments for the DMEK (Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty) procedure, a selective corneal transplantation technique indicated in the treatment of Fuchs endothelial dystrophy and other endothelial disorders. The suite encompasses both donor tissue preparation and lenticle insertion and has been developed in collaboration with Dr. R. Fogla, Prof. V. Sarnicola, M.D. and Prof. Tzamalis, reflecting Janach’s long-standing commitment to endothelial keratoplasty innovation.
Donor tissue preparation
The DMEK Eye Banking Vacuum Guarded Punch (JD2890FD.100), developed with Dr. R. Fogla, integrates a calibrated blade with 100 µ controlled cutting depth and an enhanced suction system, ensuring accurate and reproducible Descemet detection. The range is available in multiple diameters to meet different surgical needs.
The DMEK Tzamalis Punch™ enables the innovative “One-step Yogurt Technique”: a fast and safe self-preparation method that allows single-peel graft harvesting in less than five minutes, with preserved endothelial cell viability and a low learning curve.
Lenticle insertion
The Disposable DMEK Inserter (JCP0011), flagship of the range, is available in two versions designed for conventional (2.8–3.0 mm) and small (2.3–2.5 mm) incisions, ensuring a stable and atraumatic delivery of the lenticle into the anterior chamber.
The MIDI Micro Incision Descemet Inserter (JD0012), designed by Prof. V. Sarnicola, M.D., is a sterile single-use inserter for 2.4/2.5 mm incisions, featuring a rotating system for roll orientation, an integrated filter and a dedicated flow controller for accurate positioning.
