1932

Foundation

Austrian technician Edoardo Janach moves to Como, Italy to represent Grieshaber (Schaffhausen) and founds E. Janach as a workshop for bespoke ophthalmic instruments.

1950

First factory

Opens purpose-built factory outside Como; introduces serial production of reusable stainless-steel forceps.

1980-82

New Management

Edoardo Janach passes away; control goes to his son Hermann Janach.

1990

Consolidation

Antonello Spinnato scales up CNC machining and sets up a formal R&D unit. Launches micro-incision cataract sets, capsulorhexis forceps and the “Janach PreCal” diamond knife series; begins OEM supply to Alcon.

2000-04

New Markets

E. Janach developes a new marketing strategy for the International Markets and introduces a Quality sistem upgrade.

2010

New R&D unit

Janach goes disposable in 2023 and continues to innovate (e.g. DMEK set, disposable big bubble set, suction disposable donor punch)
